2009-04-18 [Thistlewood]: I can participate in this one! YAY!
2009-04-29 [moira hawthorne]: ooooooo a westie! I was just thinkin of getting some photos of monty while my neighbour is pet sitting!
2009-04-29 [Triola]: He was visiting for the day, so I took the opportunity to get my camera out :3 But both of the pups were so busy playing, I really had my work cut out trying to get a clear picture xD
2009-04-29 [moira hawthorne]: I hear you there! loki loves playing with monty... and Boo next door... she is a 1 yr old staffie! she exhausts my old man!
2009-04-30 [moira hawthorne]: aaaawww thats cute thistle!
2009-04-30 [Alexi Ice]: Thistle! It's a German Shepard! <3 She is so pretty! I just LOVE german shepards, I have one of my own but he is a bit of a big boy.
2009-05-01 [Triola]: "He Loves His Boy"? Look at that evil eye he's giving the camera, he's gonna maul that boy! :O
2009-05-02 [Thistlewood]: lol, then he would be living up to his name...Demon. No he loves the kid. He is not fond of the camera.
2009-05-24 [Linderel]: Huh. A week left and there are very few photos, considering how popular the first one was... anyone up for advertising?
2009-05-31 [Linderel]: Extending this by a month. Get me more people, people!
2009-05-31 [sequeena_rae]: I had to change my last entry lol!
2009-06-11 [nosepuedovivir]: Sky isss soooo cuteeee :]
2009-06-11 [sequeena_rae]: Thank you :3
2009-06-12 [Duke Devlin]: That last shot is amazing. :O :D
2009-06-14 [Nioniel]: Puppieeeesss!
2009-06-14 [sequeena_rae]: Chocolate labs :D
2009-06-14 [Nioniel]: Yeahhh... :)
2009-06-25 [hanhepi]: i might have to did up a pic of my dog for this. :)
2009-06-25 [Nioniel]: purdy puppies!
2009-06-29 [クロナ]: Mitzie is adorable! (Cocker Spaniel's are my favorite.) All the puppies are adorable!
2009-06-29 [Nioniel]: Thank you!
I just found out today that she has skin cancer...
:(
2009-06-30 [クロナ]: Awww. That's so sad!
2009-06-30 [Nioniel]: yeah...
2009-06-30 [Linderel]: Those in favour of extending the deadline further, say aye.
2009-06-30 [sequeena_rae]: Aye because I might want to change a few pics :P
2009-06-30 [hanhepi]: that's the clearest picture of her i could find. she never stays still enough to get a clear photo. :(
2009-06-30 [sequeena_rae]: Beautiful! Looks like she has some staff in her [hanhepi] :)
2009-06-30 [hanhepi]: :) yeah, she kinda does. we don't know what all she has... her momma was a white german shepard muttly, her dad a lab mutt the size of a walker coon hound (giant).
2009-06-30 [sequeena_rae]: She's gorgeous either way, beautiful colouring x
2009-06-30 [hanhepi]: thank you. :D she has a funny hound dog bark too. :) "barroooooooo!
2009-06-30 [sequeena_rae]: Candy does the same howl lol! Is she wearing a half check collar?
2009-07-01 [クロナ]: I used to have a Basset that did that kind of bark, but the funny thing about it is that she barked like that when she slept, too. I wonder if she was having weird dreams? But, Bella is so pretty!
2009-07-01 [Linderel]: Everyone except for Squee forgot to say 'aye'. I'm disappointed in you. *extends anyhow*
2009-07-01 [Nioniel]: :(
2009-07-01 [hanhepi]: squee: no... its just a regular choke chain. i want to get one of those nylon web and choke chain combo's though. it would be much prettier.
kelli- bella makes really weird noises when she sleeps... but the sleep barks are pretty close to normal dog barks, just more quiet, and interspersed with squeeks and nose whistling.
2009-07-01 [sequeena_rae]: I've never gotten the hang of choke chains. My step dad used one on my mum's dog and she would just choke herself with it. When used properly I know they work wonders but I could never use one myself :(
2009-07-01 [クロナ]: I think that dogs are really funny when they do things in their sleep. Like when they run like their chasing something. :)
2009-07-02 [hanhepi]: when we go for walks, i have to use a pinching training collar... "prong collar" its called i think. otherwise, she just pulls so hard she wheeses and my arms hurt for days. the metal chokes work pretty good after you have them mostly trained not to rip your arm out of joint, if you put it way up behind their ears, and your dog is shortish. (with a leash, bella is too tall for me to keep the collar there without holding my arm in the air like a goof.
2009-07-02 [クロナ]: Have you tried to use a harness? They're made for dogs that pull a lot. Harnesses help to prevent pulling and the dog can't choke on it. That's what I have to use for Lady. And, one of our other dogs has to use it becuase he has a collapsed trachea and can't have on leashes and things that rub on the neck.
2009-07-02 [Lord Josmar]: Sorry for the large picture. Smallest I had of it.
2009-07-02 [sequeena_rae]: I've heard of the prong collars, I don't think they're very common in the UK. It's like all chain collars, they look vicious but if you know how to use them properly they work wonders.
@[クロナ]: Sky was put on a harness as soon as she was allowed out for walks. It was perfect her and she learned how to walk properly very quickly. Now I just walk her on her collar (though I've only resorted to doing that because her harness is broken). How many people can say they have a fully trained GSD at 8 months :D She's such a good girl, I hardly had to do any work with her.
2009-07-03 [クロナ]: Yeah. I think that harnesses are good ideas for dogs (and cats) for many reasons. I work with animals, and so I really know all the benefits for harnesses. XD So I'm always recomending them to everyone.
2009-07-03 [sequeena_rae]: If you have a pulling dog though haltis are probably best :) It's very easy to correct a dog when it's on a halti
2009-07-03 [hanhepi]: i tried a head harness, my dog freaked. it was one of those freak outs that you can tell its never going to get better. there was screaming from her untill she squidggled out of it. we used to use a regular harness on our husky... it made him pull worse, because it didnt hurt when he did. it was grat for tying him to our little red wagon though... he'd drag us arround for hours. we needed an adult with us though, because if the waggon tipped on its side, he'd keep going, with my cousins and i being drug with it. lol. so i didn't figgure it would work any better with this mule i call Bella.
on a cat it would be great i think, because all my cats have freaked with regular collars, like you were choking them, no matter how loose the collar was.
2009-07-03 [sequeena_rae]: Looks like your dogs needed a lot of training - not to be offensive. Did you have them from pups or did you get them when they were older?
2009-07-03 [hanhepi]: the husky was a pup when my grandaddy got him.... it was a pup my aunt bred, and she started working with them as soon as their eyes opened. huskies are pretty stubborn, and he wasn't ever trained how to pull offically... grandaddy just thought it was funny to watch him pull the wagon. he did try teaching him not to pull on leash, but it never worked til the dog was old and i was walking him as my excuse to smoke. even then, if he caught a sniff of something good, i was likely to be drug into the bushes before i could call him off the scent.
i got bella when she was about 6 weeks old. she's real smart, but gets over excited on the leash... being a hound muttly propably doesn't hel a lot, she pulls real hard because she's sniffing and trying to catch up to what she smells. my fat ass just moves too slow. off leash, she is completely under voice controle, which makes the problem on leash all the more frustrating. lol. once she's wore out though, she's a dream to walk...not quite at a heel, but not pulling either, always slack in the leash.but she's young enough that by the time she's wore out, i almost need her to pull me home. lol.
2009-07-10 [Easterling]: *adding a picture of me and my buddy Alfred* :)
2009-07-10 [hanhepi]: awww! he's cute! what kind of dog is he? poodle?
2009-07-10 [Easterling]: Yes, a medium size poodle. Well, he's small enough to sit in my lap, I don't know the exact name for his kind.
2009-07-10 [hanhepi]: aww!!
i think the sizes are standard (giant dog), minature (medium sized dog), toy (little) and tea cup (really supper tiny). i think.
2009-07-10 [Easterling]: Then, it's minature...
I added another picture of him in my diary, if you'd like to see. :)
2009-07-10 [sequeena_rae]: Aw gorgeous :) bet you have no problems with shedding! :P
2009-07-10 [Easterling]: Sorry, but what does "shedding" mean? I looked it up in a dictionary but I didn't get much wiser than before :P
2009-07-10 [sequeena_rae]: Shedding = moulting of hair/fur :)
2009-07-10 [Easterling]: Oh, I see. No, poodles don't shed hair. Allergic people can feel better with poodles than with other dogs. Alfred's and his Dad Thårrsten's owner takes them to a dog hair dresser once in a while, before that they look like small sheeps! xD
2009-07-10 [sequeena_rae]: Yes I know lol :P My mum had a standard poodle when I was a child and boy was it big - you don't expect poodles to be big dogs!
2009-07-10 [Easterling]: These are small dogs, so it's all right. I think they're better when they're small. Big gets.... too big! x)
2009-07-11 [hanhepi]: one year when watching the westminster dog show, they had a standard poodle that was black, but had the hair cut thats all round pufs of fur everywhere.... made it look kind of like black olives held together with black toothpicks. that's when i decided if i ever got a poodle, it would be a black one, and i'd keep its hair cut like that, and i would name it " Olive". :)
2009-07-11 [Easterling]: x) I think it's much more cute when they can get their curly fur just the way it is. At least, these fellows are heartbreakingl
2009-07-21 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Oh me gawsh, 10 days D= I need to get on it.
2009-07-23 [FamousPanda]: [sweet.tx.tea] wow, great great shot, I love the quality. Good job!
2009-07-23 [sweet.tx.tea]: XD Thank you! I spend too much time with my camera.
2009-07-23 [Nioniel]: I love the way you frame your shots!
2009-07-24 [FamousPanda]: There is no way to spend too much time with your camera.
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: :] I think that framing them looks a bit more professional, or perhaps I am just picky. :/ I think that the color contrast stands out more if you add a black or white background. And, Panda, I agree wholeheartedly
2009-07-24 [sequeena_rae]: I went through a stage where I loved to frame, I hate it now D:
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: I came up with a system for the ones I post on here. I copy and paste the picture onto a black background (that is already a smaller size, perfect for uploading), then shrink the image. Get it centered (I am normally off :/), then add my name. And, BAM. Done. XD
2009-07-24 [FamousPanda]: I put my photos into photoshop and click on the canvas size and make it a little bigger, that way there is a black or white background behind it.
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: I have a program similar to Photoshop.
2009-07-24 [Duke Devlin]: Hehe I use GIMP... It has a function for adding a border. =X
2009-07-24 [sequeena_rae]: I use GIMP bloody annoying thing! Keeps saying it's stopped working
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: o.o I have heard it is a great program. I have never tried it, though. I have PhotoImpact PRO. :]
2009-07-24 [Duke Devlin]: Mine usually works... But occasionally does the same thing. It just randomly crashes on me. -.- Conveniently when I haven't saved for a while. >_>
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: What OS are you using?
2009-07-24 [Duke Devlin]: Squee, or me? :O
(Sorry for the rhyme XD)
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: Both.
2009-07-24 [Duke Devlin]: Well I'm on Vista. :O
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: That is why you have occasional problems. :/ I just got rid of it. It ate my photos.
2009-07-24 [Duke Devlin]: That sucks. D: I only use it occasionally now.. For most stuff I use Photoshop Elements, but there are some functions I can't find yet. =/ :P
2009-07-24 [sequeena_rae]: I'm on vista too.
2009-07-24 [sweet.tx.tea]: There's the entire issue. GIMP has HUGE issues with Vista. Hell, everything has huge issues with Vista.
2009-07-24 [Duke Devlin]: True. =/ It's not great.
2009-08-01 [sequeena_rae]: Has this contest closed yet? :D
2009-08-01 [Linderel]: It would have, but I'm busy at a convention, so feel free to continue submitting if you have stuff :P
2009-08-09 [Linderel]: Poll is now up! Please excuse the delay. :)
I will be in Norway for most of next week and probably not online much. In my absence, [Chimes] will deal with any possible problems.
2009-09-11 [Linderel]: Whoo! Closed! Congrats to [sweet.tx.tea] for the double win :P
2009-09-11 [sweet.tx.tea]: *blushes* Thanks, guys! (And thanks, Lin, for your comment.) :]
